Introductory chapters describe areas well loved and known intimately by the author. sixteen routes folllow, punctuated with fascinating points of interest along the route - standing stones, springs, cruck barns and chapels. this is a guide for those who are prepared and like to use their legs to achieve the thrill and satisfaction of discovery. the routes vary in length and difficulty and type of country covered to suit all moods and abilities, from 6 mile walks through pastoral country to 42 miles over the wildest uplands. dovedale, monsal dale and kinder scout are justly famous, but they are but a small fraction of these southern pennines.
