In this book the authors discuss research findings from an international web-based educational project, in which students from four different countries worked together on issues concerning youth, culture and the use of alcohol. The project explored three key themes:

- Students' genuine participation and action as prerequisites for developing ownership of learning

- Cross-cultural collaboration as a precondition for understanding one's own practice and culture and for developing a sensitivity to otherness

- Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a democratic networked learning environment built around learning communities and interactions that transcend the limits of space and time

The findings indicate that ICT can play a significant role in democratic health education in schools. The authors suggest that teachers as responsible dialogue pratners in learning processes play a crucial role in unlocking the potential and commitment of young people to deal with health issues.

young-minds.net/lessons learnt will be of interest to researchers, teachers, and health promotion professionals interested in knowing how to involve young people in issues that concern their lives.
