Along with her ex-husband, Carsten, Stine is struggling to maintain a normal life for the two fo them and their three chilrden; the identical teenage-twins Cecilie an dKatrine and their younger sister, Frederikke. Cecilie, one of the twins, has cancer and during the past nine years, she has constantly been in and out of hte hospital. Cecilie has spent half of her life hospitalized at The Children's Cancer Centre where Stine and Carsten in turn have taken care of her. As a single mother Stine fights against her fear of losing her cildand tries to stay afloat in an unbearable chaos, while she insits on creating an almost normal life for all three of the children. For two years the film follows the family's life closely while Cecilie receives a bone marrow transplant that can ultimately save her life.
