Socialisation and social change are two processes that are linked to each other, but are different. Socialisation defines a process in which a person develops into a member of a society. Social change, however, refers to the process that describes the changes of social institutions and social systems, like the economy, culture, or for example, the fields of movement culture and sport.
The aim of this book is to explore the way that the development of persons is part of the social change of movement culture and sport. Formulated as a question: In what way does social change depend on changes in the participating persons?
Both processes are running on different level: the personal individual life on one level and the organisational and societal system on another. To find the connection between both, we must look at the interactions of the acting persons in their social context. In our case, we have to look at the social contexts of movement culture and sport.
This book is a collection of articles, in which the authors have investigated specific fields of movement culture and sport. The articles follow the general thesis that participating in sport is both a socialisation process and an input for social change of movement culture and sport.
